This is me!
I'm Katelyn, an experience designer with a deep curiosity about how people connect with their inner and outer worlds. I'm constantly creating, whether that's in Figma, on a film set, or at my craft table at midnight making festival outfits. I care about people genuinely, and I've always believed that design done well can make everyday life feel a little more human and a little more magical.
I studied visual communication in Seattle, and my first design role was at The Gottman Institute, one of the world's leading relationship research organisations, designing for an audience trying to understand themselves and the people they loved. From there I moved into film and television, building worlds for Netflix, BBC, Disney, and Paramount, then into brand and design systems for enterprise clients including Oracle. The through line across all of it has been the same question: how does this experience land for the person on the other end? UX is where that question finally has the tools it deserves.
I'm an American who moved to London just before the world shut down and never looked back. I recently got citizenship, which felt like the universe finally agreeing with a decision I'd already made. When I'm not at my desk I'm usually making something, festival outfits, embroidery, press-on nails, felting, seeking out live music, art installations, and festivals, or losing hours on the weekend to Animal Crossing. I also have eighteen plants and absolutely no regrets about it.
